Nicotine Strength for Beginners: How to Read a Disposable Vape Label
Nicotine strength for beginners starts with reading the label correctly. A disposable vape prints its strength in mg per mL or as a percentage, and 20 mg/mL is 2%. UAE.S 5030:2018 sets 20 mg/mL as its e-liquid limit. Before buying, read the strength, the puff tier and the device type. This page explains the labels. It does not tell anyone which strength to use, and it gives no health advice. Vapor AE sells to adults aged 21 and over only. How to read the strength on a disposable
Strength is usually in the product title or on the box. Two units appear: milligrams per millilitre (mg/mL) and percent. They describe the same thing, so 2% and 20mg are one strength. The conversion is 10 mg/mL = 1%.
| mg per mL | Percent | Note |
| 0 | 0% | No nicotine |
| 10 | 1% | Below the UAE.S 5030:2018 figure |
| 20 | 2% | The figure in clause 4.2.4 |
| 30 | 3% | Above the clause 4.2.4 figure |
| 50 | 5% | 2.5 times the clause 4.2.4 figure |
On 31 October 2026 the 142 in-stock disposables at Vapor AE state strength in their titles as follows: 3 at 0%, 38 at 20mg, 39 at 50mg, 15 at another figure (2mg to 30mg, mostly shisha-style devices) and 49 with no strength in the title. Two titles name both 20mg and 50mg, so the groups overlap by two. A missing strength does not mean zero nicotine. Check the product page or the box. The nicotine strength guide has the full breakdown, and the 20mg disposable vape page lists every 20mg model by puff tier.
Strength, puff tier and device type: what to compare
These are neutral factors you can read directly from a listing. None of them says how much nicotine any person should use.
- The strength figure: as printed in the title, in mg/mL or %. Confirm the selected variant, because some titles name two strengths.
- Puff tier: a rating of liquid volume and battery size, not of nicotine content. A 2,000-puff pen and a 50,000-puff device can share one strength.
- Device type: rechargeable or non-rechargeable, and mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung (DTL, common on shisha-style devices).
- Price: compare AED per 1,000 puffs only if puff ratings matter to you. Our list of 20mg disposables under AED 40 shows live prices.
- Product picks: for model comparisons see the beginner disposable vape guide. If you want no nicotine, see zero-nicotine disposable vapes.
If you are asking which strength suits you, or whether vaping can help you stop smoking, speak to a doctor or pharmacist. Nicotine is addictive. Non-smokers and people who have never used nicotine are advised to avoid it.
Nicotine salt and why disposables use it
Most disposables use nicotine salt, a form of nicotine bound to an acid, rather than freebase nicotine. Read the plain-language comparison in our nic salt vs freebase guide.
The UAE limit
Clause 4.2.4 of the UAE.S 5030:2018 standard (MoIAT) says the nicotine content of electronic liquid shall be less than or equal to 20 milligrams per millilitre. That is 2%. Read the clause in the standard itself rather than relying on any retailer’s summary, including ours. Vapor AE states every product’s strength exactly as the manufacturer lists it and makes no ruling on any product’s status. See also is vaping legal in Dubai and the UAE.
Is 50 mg (5%) too strong for a first disposable?
A 50 mg (5%) product contains 2.5 times the 20 mg/mL limit in clause 4.2.4. We do not call any 50mg product compliant, and we do not recommend it. New users and non-smokers are advised to avoid nicotine altogether. Our 50mg information page explains the strength and lists what is stocked.
Lower-strength options in stock
Three in-stock disposables state 0% nicotine (see the zero-nicotine guide), and 38 state 20mg, the figure in clause 4.2.4 (see the 20mg page).
Beginner FAQ
What does 20mg mean on a vape?
It means 20 milligrams of nicotine per millilitre of e-liquid, which is 2%.
Is 2% the same as 20mg?
Yes. They are the same strength in two different units.
What is the UAE nicotine limit?
Clause 4.2.4 of UAE.S 5030:2018 says electronic liquid shall contain 20 mg/mL or less.
Does a higher puff count mean stronger nicotine?
No. Puff count and nicotine strength are separate figures.
Which strength should I pick?
We cannot advise on that. Vapor AE gives no dosing or health advice. Ask a doctor or pharmacist, and if you do not use nicotine, avoid it.
What if the listing shows no strength?
Check the product page or the box before ordering. A missing figure is not the same as 0%.
What is the minimum age to buy?
Vapor AE sells to adults aged 21 and over only.
