Disposable vapes in the UAE come in a wider range of nicotine strengths than most first-time buyers expect — from genuine 0% devices through to 50mg (5%) bars well above the UAE’s legal e-liquid cap. This guide explains what each strength actually means, what’s legal to sell here, and how to read a product listing so you know exactly what you’re buying. Nicotine strength is one of the few specs on a disposable vape that carries a genuine legal dimension in the UAE, unlike puff count or flavour, which is why we treat it separately from the rest of our buying guides rather than folding it into a general spec comparison. Device certification and nicotine-strength limits for vapes sold in the UAE are set by the UAE’s Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT).

Nicotine strengths explained

Disposable vape nicotine strength is usually printed on the box as either a percentage (2%, 5%) or a concentration in milligrams per millilitre (20mg, 50mg) — both describe the same thing, just in different units. A 2% e-liquid and a 20mg/mL e-liquid are the same strength. Strengths in our own catalogue cluster into four practical bands, plus a genuine zero-nicotine option:

Low-to-mid strength: 2-3% (20-30mg) and 5-6mg

The 2% / 20mg strength sits exactly at the UAE’s legal e-liquid nicotine cap (see below) and is the most common single strength in our catalogue. A smaller cluster of devices use a lower 5-6mg (roughly 0.5-0.6%) strength, often on higher-puff shisha-style devices where a lighter throat hit across a long session is the intended experience. High strength: 50mg (5%)

50mg/mL (5%) is more than double the UAE’s 20mg/mL legal cap for e-liquid. We stock a meaningful number of devices listed at this strength — we do not call any of them UAE-compliant, and neither should you take a “50mg” listing as automatically approved for sale here. Nicotine strength and puff count are unrelated

It is a common assumption that a higher puff count means a stronger device, or that a high-nicotine device automatically produces more vapour, but neither is true. Puff count reflects e-liquid volume and battery capacity; nicotine strength is a separate spec entirely, set independently by the manufacturer. A 3,000-puff device and a 50,000-puff device can both be listed at the same 20mg strength, and a low-puff device can just as easily carry a 50mg listing as a high-puff one. Treat the two specs as answering completely different questions when comparing devices.

What’s in stock, by strength

Roughly a third of our in-stock range sits at 50mg — a well-known and widely-sold strength across the region, but one that sits above the UAE’s own stated e-liquid cap. We list it because it’s part of the real, currently-available catalogue, not because we’re describing it as approved. Where a listing doesn’t state a nicotine strength at all (45 of 151), check the product page description or the physical box before ordering if strength matters to your choice.

Choosing a strength

Switching from cigarettes

A heavier smoker switching to vaping for the first time often starts higher and steps down over time, while a lighter or occasional smoker may find a 2-3% strength enough from the start. Twenty cigarettes a day is sometimes used as a loose comparison point for a 20mg strength, though this varies enormously by person and is not an exact conversion. There’s no universal right answer — it depends on your own prior nicotine intake, and starting lower with room to move up is generally easier than starting high and trying to cut back.

Throat hit vs smoothness

Higher nicotine strengths generally produce a stronger, more noticeable throat hit; lower strengths and 0% devices are smoother but rely more on flavour and vapour volume for satisfaction. This is subjective and varies from person to person, so what feels harsh to one vaper can feel unremarkable to another at the exact same strength. If you find a strong throat hit uncomfortable, a 2-3% or lower device is worth trying before assuming you need a higher strength.

How to read nicotine strength on a product listing

Strength is usually shown in the product title or a dedicated spec line, most often as a percentage, a milligram figure, or occasionally both together. Where a listing gives no strength at all, that is not the same as the device being nicotine-free — it usually means the manufacturer has not published the figure, so it is worth checking the physical packaging or asking before ordering if the exact strength matters to you. Some brands also list two variants of the same device name at different strengths, so double-check the specific variant selected at checkout rather than assuming from the base product name.

UAE nicotine rules

UAE.S 5030:2018, the UAE’s own vaping product standard, sets a maximum nicotine concentration of 20mg/mL (2%) for e-liquid, alongside MoIAT registration requirements for products sold legally in the country. A product listed above that figure — including the 50mg devices in our own range above — is above the stated cap, and we do not describe any such product as compliant. Sale of any nicotine-containing vape product in the UAE, regardless of strength, is restricted to adults 18 and over. Don’t confuse this e-liquid cap with the separate nicotine-pouch standard (a different product category with its own, differently-stated limit) — the two are sometimes conflated online. Compliant packaging should also carry the required health warning and MoIAT/ECAS registration marking regardless of nicotine strength, and from 1 September 2026 a minimum excise price of AED 1 per mL of e-liquid applies UAE-wide, independent of the strength printed on the box. A lower strength (2-3% or below) or a zero-nicotine device is a reasonable starting point if you’re unsure — you can move up later, but it’s harder to comfortably move down from a strength that turns out too strong.

Does a higher mg number mean more vapour?
No — nicotine strength affects throat hit and satisfaction, not vapour volume, which is driven by the device’s coil, airflow and e-liquid formulation instead.

Can I buy any nicotine strength if I’m under 18?
No — sale of vaping products in the UAE, at any nicotine strength, is restricted to adults 18 and over.

Why do so many disposables in the UAE list 50mg if it is above the legal cap?
50mg is a widely-sold strength across the region and appears on many devices as manufactured, but that does not make it UAE-compliant. We list what is genuinely in stock without describing any 50mg device as meeting the UAE.S 5030:2018 cap.

Can I request a specific nicotine strength if it is not shown on a listing?
We only sell the exact stock shown on each product page. Where a strength is not stated, contact us to confirm before ordering rather than assuming a specific figure.

Does nicotine strength affect how long a disposable lasts?
Not directly — puff count and e-liquid volume determine how long a device lasts, not nicotine strength. A stronger nicotine hit might change how much you draw on the device, which can indirectly affect how quickly it empties, but the two specs are otherwise independent.
