What is a DVC coil? DVC stands for dual vertical coil: two small coils standing upright inside the head instead of one. Splitting the heat across two coils gives a smoother, more even vapour at low wattage, which suits high-strength nicotine salts. FreeMax groups these under its “SaltCoilTech” name for exactly that reason. The coils are wicked with FreeMax’s tea-fibre cotton, a formula the company says it patented in 2019.
Which OX Coil Should You Choose?
DVC 1.2Ω or 1.0Ω: Tight MTL
Both run at 9–13W for a tight, cigarette-like draw and long battery life. Choose the 1.2Ω for the coolest, most discreet vape, or the 1.0Ω for a touch more warmth. The DVC 0.8Ω sits above these at 12–15W, giving more flavour and a slightly warmer draw while staying mouth-to-lung.
0.5Ω Mesh: Restricted-Lung
The mesh coil at 16–20W opens the draw into restricted direct-lung (RDL) vaping with more vapour. Use a lower-strength e-liquid with it, since the extra airflow and heat pull through more nicotine per puff than the DVC coils.

How to Install and Prime It
- Empty the Onnix pod and pull out the old coil.
- Drip a few drops of e-liquid onto the new coil’s exposed cotton.
- Push the coil firmly into the pod.
- Fill the pod and wait about five minutes so the tea-fibre cotton soaks through.
- Start at the low end of the coil’s wattage range.
Troubleshooting
- Burnt first puff: the cotton was not fully soaked, or the wattage was above the coil range. Always prime and start low.
- Gurgling or spitting: the coil has flooded; take a few short draws without firing, or flick the pod gently.
- Leaking from the pod base: push the coil in fully and check the pod seal.
- Weak or muted flavour: the coil is near the end of its life, or the e-liquid is too thick for a small MTL coil.
Coil Life and Best E-Liquid
Coil life depends on how much you vape, the wattage and the e-liquid. Low-wattage DVC coils with nicotine salts tend to last well; very sweet e-liquids shorten any coil’s life. Change the coil when the flavour turns muted or burnt, the vapour thins, or the pod starts to gurgle. With the DVC coils, use a nicotine salt or a thin 50/50 e-liquid; with the 0.5Ω mesh, choose a lower-strength salt or thin freebase.
