FreeMax is a Shenzhen, China vape hardware maker founded in 2013, known for pioneering mesh-coil sub-ohm tanks and today for the REXA PRO touchscreen pod kit. FreeMax UAE: what we stock

Who makes FreeMax?

FreeMax says it was “founded in 2013” as “a comprehensive enterprise which integrates independent R&D, production and sales”, with its offices in Bao’an District, Shenzhen, and a digital factory in Shenzhen, China (About FreeMax). Its tagline is “FREE MAX. FLAVOR MAX.”, and it says it exports to more than 100 countries with over 20 million users.

The brand’s history is mostly a history of coils. FreeMax lists these milestones:

• 2015: a dual vertical coil tank able to run up to 100W.
• 2016: a sub-ohm tank using ceramic-covered coil technology.
• 2017: the Fireluke Mesh, which FreeMax calls the world’s first mesh-coil sub-ohm tank.
• 2018: double, triple, quad and quintuple mesh coils.
• 2019–2020: a patented tea-fibre cotton formula and its FM COILTECH 3.0 and 4.0 coil technologies.

Mesh coils are now standard across the vape industry, and FreeMax’s early work on them is the main reason its coils still have a loyal following.

REXA PRO

The REXA PRO is FreeMax’s flagship pod kit. FreeMax lists a 1300mAh battery with 2A Type-C charging, a 5–30W output range, and Power and Smart modes; in Smart mode the device sets the output to suit the pod’s resistance. Its standout feature is a 2.51-inch HD touchscreen, which you tap to fire and slide to lock, so it does not fire in a pocket. An airflow slider moves the draw from mouth-to-lung (MTL) to restricted direct-lung (RDL) (FreeMax REXA PRO specs). We stock it in six colours.

REXA replacement pods

FreeMax lists REXA pods in 0.4Ω, 0.6Ω, 0.8Ω, 1.0Ω and 1.2Ω. Our REXA pod listing offers 0.4Ω, 0.6Ω, 0.8Ω and 1.2Ω. Use 0.8–1.2Ω for MTL with nicotine salts, and 0.4–0.6Ω for a looser RDL draw with lower-strength freebase.

MX coils for Maxus tanks

FreeMax describes MX mesh coils as “the pluggable version of the M Pro mesh coils”, used in Maxus series products launched from 2021 onwards (FreeMax MX coil). Our 3-pack comes in MX1 at 0.12Ω and 0.15Ω, MX2 at 0.2Ω and MX3 at 0.15Ω. These are low-resistance, high-wattage direct-lung coils for 3mg freebase e-liquid, not for nicotine salts.

MS and OX coils

MS mesh coils are made for the Marvos T pod mod and come in 0.15Ω, 0.25Ω, 0.35Ω and 0.5Ω. OX coils are for the Onnix and Onnix 2 pods: FreeMax lists an OX mesh coil at 0.5Ω and OX DVC (dual vertical) coils at 0.8Ω, 1.0Ω and 1.2Ω, for MTL and RDL vaping (FreeMax Onnix series). How to choose FreeMax pods and coils

Start with the device you own, because the coil family must match it. Then choose the resistance by how you vape. A higher resistance (0.8–1.2Ω) gives a tighter, cooler MTL draw at low wattage and suits nicotine salts. A lower resistance (0.4–0.6Ω) gives a warmer RDL draw. Sub-ohm coils below 0.3Ω, such as the MX and the lower MS options, need high wattage and freebase e-liquid at 3mg.

Prime every new coil. Drip a few drops of e-liquid onto the exposed cotton, fit the coil, fill the tank or pod, and wait about five minutes before your first puff. Start at the low end of the coil’s wattage range and raise it slowly. A burnt taste on the first puff usually means the cotton was not fully soaked, and it cannot be undone.

Replace a coil when the flavour turns muted or burnt, or when the e-liquid starts to gurgle and leak. Sweet e-liquids with a lot of sweetener clog coils faster, so expect shorter coil life with dessert and candy flavours.

In the UAE, e-liquid nicotine is capped at 20mg/mL under standard UAE.S 5030:2018. If you are choosing a new pod kit instead of a coil, compare the REXA PRO with the OXVA Xlim, Aspire Pixo and Vaporesso XROS ranges, or the Lost Vape pod mods.

Not with the low-resistance options. Coils below about 0.3Ω run at high wattage and suit 3mg freebase. Use salts with 0.8Ω or higher coils, such as the OX DVC or REXA 0.8–1.2Ω pods.
