Device certification and nicotine-strength limits for vapes sold in the UAE are set by the UAE’s Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT).

What “puff count” actually means

Puff count is the manufacturer’s estimate of how many draws a device will deliver before the e-liquid or battery runs out, based on an average draw length (typically around 1–1.5 seconds). It is not a guarantee: longer draws, chain-vaping, and how much of the e-liquid actually gets used before the coil degrades all affect real-world results. Two devices both rated “10,000 puffs” can run out at noticeably different real-world times. Treat puff count as a way to compare devices against each other, not as an exact promise. Manufacturers arrive at the number through automated machine testing rather than human vaping — a rig draws on the device at a fixed interval and duration until the e-liquid is exhausted or the coil stops producing vapour, and that draw count becomes the figure printed on the box. It’s a consistent, comparable measurement between devices from the same testing standard, but it doesn’t account for the way real people actually vape, which is rarely as short or as evenly spaced as a lab draw.

Under 3,000 puffs: trial and pocket-size options

10,000–19,999 puffs: the largest single band

This is our biggest single band by device count (38 in stock) — a sweet spot between the budget and high-puff extremes, generally rechargeable, and priced AED 35–49. It’s also the band most UAE buyers land on once they’ve moved past a first trial device, since it balances a low reorder frequency against a price that’s still close to the budget range below it.

20,000–29,999 puffs: near the top end

Devices at 20,000–29,999 puffs sit in an interesting middle ground: they carry most of the size and rechargeability of a true high-puff device without quite reaching the 30,000-puff threshold, and are often priced only a few dirhams above the 10,000–19,999 band.

How many puffs do you actually need?

As a rough guide, one 20-cigarette pack is sometimes compared to roughly 400–500 vape puffs, though this varies enormously by person and device, so treat it as a starting point rather than a rule. A light or occasional vaper might get a week or more out of a 3,000-puff device; a heavier daily vaper might finish a 10,000-puff device in under two weeks. Someone who vapes only occasionally through the day — a handful of draws at a time, spaced out — will typically stretch a given puff count much further than someone who vapes continuously in longer sessions, since chain-vaping burns through e-liquid faster than the spaced-out pattern the puff rating assumes. Rather than buying the highest number available, work backward from how often you’re happy to reorder, and check the price-per-puff (device price ÷ rated puffs) rather than comparing sticker prices alone. As a concrete example: a 5,000-puff device at AED 40 works out to roughly AED 0.008 per puff, while a 20,000-puff device at AED 49 works out to about AED 0.0025 per puff — more than three times cheaper per puff, even though the sticker price only looks slightly higher. That kind of gap is common once you cross into the higher puff bands, which is why price-per-puff is a more useful comparison than the sticker price on its own.

Signs a disposable is running low before it dies completely

A handful of warning signs tend to show up before a disposable stops working entirely: a noticeably weaker or thinner-tasting draw, a burnt or scorched taste as the coil runs dry of e-liquid, or (on rechargeable models with an indicator light) a light that changes colour or starts blinking on each draw. None of these mean the device is faulty — they’re normal signs it’s near the end of its rated puff life, and it’s worth having a replacement ready rather than waiting until it stops working completely, especially with a device you rely on daily.

UAE rules that apply regardless of puff count

Puff count has no bearing on UAE compliance — what matters is the nicotine strength and MoIAT registration. UAE.S 5030:2018 caps nicotine e-liquid at 20mg/mL (2%) regardless of how many puffs the device is rated for, and sale is restricted to adults 18 and over. From 1 September 2026, a minimum excise price of AED 1 per mL of e-liquid applies UAE-wide, which tends to affect the largest-capacity devices most since they hold more e-liquid, and MoIAT/ECAS registration marking should appear on compliant packaging regardless of puff count. No — it’s a manufacturer estimate based on an average draw length. Real-world results vary with draw length and habit.

How is puff count different from e-liquid volume in ml?
Puff count is a draw-based estimate; e-liquid volume in ml is the actual amount of liquid inside the device. Two devices with the same ml of e-liquid can carry different puff ratings depending on the coil and airflow design, so ml is sometimes the more consistent figure to compare across brands where it’s listed.

What puff count band do we stock the most of?

Does a higher puff count mean higher nicotine?
No — the two are unrelated. Puff count reflects e-liquid volume and battery capacity; nicotine strength is a separate spec that’s capped at 20mg/mL (2%) under UAE.S 5030:2018 regardless of puff count.

Should I always buy the highest puff count?
Not necessarily. Higher-puff devices cost more upfront and are bulkier to carry. Work out the price per puff and buy based on how often you actually want to reorder.

Are high-puff devices rechargeable?
Most devices above 8,000–10,000 puffs are rechargeable via USB Type-C, since a single-use battery that size would be wasteful. Always check the individual product page to confirm.

Why do two devices with the same puff count sometimes have different prices?
Price differences at the same puff count usually come down to brand, flavour range, screen displays, and whether the device is rechargeable — puff count is only one factor among several that determine price.

Is it normal for a disposable to run out of puffs before the advertised count?
Yes, this is common and expected — the advertised figure comes from consistent machine testing, while real use involves longer draws, chain-vaping, and other habits the lab test doesn’t replicate. Running out somewhat earlier than the stated number isn’t a sign of a defective device.
